From Julienas to Moulin à vent, there is only one step. However those wines are very different. The soil of this area is mainly granit, which creates more powerful and more structured wine than in the south.

Morning : You will head north for the Beaujolais route of the Crus, you will be able to observe the variety of landscapes that adds to the richness of this terroir. The 10 Crus follow and touch each other but none is the same, each one has its specificity and unique taste. Come and taste several of them side by side, you will be surprised ! After driving through lovely villages surrounded by vines and rolling hills, you will visit a local wine estate. You will immediately be immersed in the friendly atmosphere of Beaujolais when you will meet the winemaker producer. You will taste a selection of delicate red wines.

For lunch, we will make sure to reserve a table in a local restaurant.

Afternoon : After lunch, you will push the door of a Chateau, where you will taste other wines with this beautiful red cherry colour and flavors of red currant, blackberry and raspberry. You will get to learn more about the vinification process, the characteristics of the grape varieties and the particularities of each Cru.

Being a fan of Beaujolais wine here in the USA, this was my first chance to walk among the Gamay vines in person. Having visited wineries from Australia to Italy this was a tour to my first love, Beaujolais. This trip had a somber side as my son and I always talked about such a tour. He died 3 years ago. I bought an extra ticket for his memory. He was there in spirit. The rolling hill country side dotted with tiny villages are worth a thousand postcards. The wine tasting right from the barrels, the smell of the rich soil, and the singing of strange birds make it all such a one in a lifetime visit. For all of that the most memorable moments came with a long, leisurely lunch with my guide Julie. That was the real France. Delicious food, well paired wine, scenic background, conversation about wine and family, among other diners luxuriously enjoying the same thing. That is the real France. A month later, the glow remains. Thank you Julie.

Our trip to Beaujolais was perfect. We were talken to 3 different wineries and each had different perspectives on wine making. Our guide was amazing and helped in may different ways by organizing lunch to explaining more about the specific areas we drove through. Booking was easy and they were very accommodating to various requests I had.
I can not say enough great things about my experience. I will definitely book again!!!
