Further information
Departing from Avignon, you will head north to the village of Tavel. This appellation is world-famous for a unique distinction: it is the only Rhône Cru dedicated exclusively to rosé wine. Often nicknamed the "King of Rosés," Tavel stands out for its deep, intense color—notably darker than most Provence rosés—ranging from raspberry pink to light garnet. These wines are complex, highly aromatic, powerful, and age-worthy, a rare quality for a rosé!You will have the pleasure of tasting them at a family-run estate, where the entire winemaking process will be explained to you.
After lunch (not included) at a local restaurant, you will continue your tour toward the neighboring vineyards of Lirac.
Lirac is one of the few Rhône Crus to produce wines in all three colors: red, white, and rosé. It is often considered the "little brother" of Châteauneuf-du-Pape due to its red wines' similar characteristics. You will appreciate Lirac whites for their roundness and aromatic complexity, while the rosé—more delicate than Tavel—will delight you with its luscious and fruity character.
