Further information
Discover the legendary Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation during a minibus excursion.Your driver-guide will share the history of the Popes of Avignon and the creation of France's very first Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC). The most distinctive feature of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape landscape is its soil, often covered with large rounded pebbles known as galets roulés. These stones play a crucial role by absorbing the intense daytime sun and radiating that heat back to the vines at night, ensuring optimal and complete ripening of the grapes.
You will stop at a first estate for a tour and tasting. Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines are renowned for their complexity and exceptional aging potential. You will learn more about Grenache Noir, the "king" grape variety of the appellation.
Your journey continues at a second estate, where you will hear about ancestral winemaking and aging methods before enjoying a tasting of the house wines.A photo stop will allow you to capture the ruins of the papal fortress and, on a clear day, views of Mount Ventoux.
