Grown on the left bank of the Rhône river on a very specific terroir, idealy located on a bend along the river and blessed with an ideal year round climate, you will discover wines which are enduringly amongst France’s most prestigious. You’ll get to taste long lived and full bodied reds and whites full of intricate fruit flavours and impressive aromas. You will first drive to the top of Hermitage hill to enjoy a magnificent view of the vineyards and the Rhône Valley.Your guide will tell you the legend of this wine and the impressive hillside. You will then taste 5 to 6 wines from the Rhone Valley, including the Hermitage and the Crozes Hermitage.
Lunch will then be served in a local restaurant, reserved by us.
Afternoon: You will cross the Rhône river to explore other prestigious appellations : Cornas, Saint-Joseph and Saint-Péray. You will taste these wines in a family run winery, where the winemaker will be happy to serve you his fresh and floral Saint-Péray and his spicy and powerfull Cornas !

Julie is extremely knowledgeable and a joy to spend the day with. She gave me a ton of background information about the region, the wines, etc. which set up the actual visits beautifully. We also had a nice lunch at a local restaurant and when we had a couple of minutes of downtime stopped by the Valrhona chocolate company!
For me, the objective was to taste as many wonderful bottles as possible and, ultimately, to buy and ship them back to the US. While this has nothing to do with Julie or the tour itself, I would warn visitors that there was no means to get a VAT refund and the shipping charge was much higher than i have experienced elsewhere in France and Europe. The producers don't do the shipping, Julie collects the wines and takes them to a third party shipping company. So buying and shipping can get pricey.
